• The American Heart Association considers diabetes to be one of the 7 major (controllable) risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Diabetes is a treatable disease, but even when blood glucose is controlled, glucose increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. High blood pressure (hypertension)
